Painting and weaving are her privileged forms. With these she constructs and develops a world of representations from graphics, "lines that happen", which aim imagined possibilities and remind us of other crafts, maybe some fictional landscapes from travel literature or the sounds of solitude in the mountains and oceans, the water movements, the breath of all the seas.

About
Zé Ventura is an artist from the Algarve who has devoted herself both to painting and to textiles, exploring weaving, experimental tapestry and the creation of garments. This multiplicity of artistic expressions, so-called major and minor, are part of a body of creative work which is interesting and quite unusual, where flat and volumetric texture, accomplished with painting or threads, is converted into a play of techniques.
His work takes the question of clothing becoming art objects that was diagnosed back in 1920s with Sonia Delaunay right down to the 1960s with the movement so-called “wearables”, the subject of an important collective exhibition at the Gulbenkian Foundation in 1990.
HER STORY
Painting
In her painting emerges a world of pictorial silences relating memories, transformed in perpetual movement, searching the answers to the simplicity of the deepest questions. Her works tell us perhaps how things should be. Paintings are images, as poetry are words and music, sounds. Images, words and sounds like emotions. Emotion of those who practice them and of those who observes them, from whom, somehow engages with them.
Textiles
What Zé Ventura does in the cultural field, is a recycling, not of fragments of textile, but of the soul and the techniques of the old fabrics, bringing together tradition and modernity, and changing, with her own elaboration of mind, and with the help of those magical tools of her body, her hands, the old into the new.
Exhibitions
She won Nacional and Regional prize awards for Creative Weaving. She is a member of the Portuguese Society of Authors. Her works are represented in private and official collections in Portugal and abroad.She has held several painting and weaving exhibitions in Portugal and Germany. Her most relevant individual exhibitions were placed in Museu Nacional do Traje in Lisbon (2002), Palácio da Galeria in Tavira (2006), Centro Cultural de Lagos (2006 and 2018), Custódio Moutinho Lda in Lisbon (2007) and Museu de Portimão (2008).
